Surely, the pandemic has had disastrous outcomes to many due to the implementation of strict lockdowns. However, the sky seems to have fallen harder
on those who were working in the Middle Eastern countries and found all their
ways back home locked for the foreseeable future. In the light of such happenings,
the Indian government on Monday announced that it plans to begin a structured
and phased repatriation of its citizens stuck abroad from the 7th of May 2020.
The Air India flight with around 200 Indians will depart from Sharjah and will arrive
in Lucknow on Saturday, as reported by an Official.
Air India further informed that it will operate 64 flights from the 7th of May to 13th
of May to bring back around 15,000 Indian citizens stuck abroad due to the
lockdown scenario.
AK Sharma – director of the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport – said,
“An Air India flight is likely to arrive in Lucknow from Sharjah between 8.00 PM
and 8.30 PM on Saturday. The tentative number of passengers arriving in Lucknow is 200.
Since Mid-March, India has been on a nationwide lockdown and the situation just
keeps getting worse for those stranded abroad and wanting to get back home to
their family members. These are trying times and the government has taken due
precautions in getting Indian citizens back and has made arrangements to get the
arrivals tested duly.
Under this repatriation plan, the government will be getting all those stuck abroad
in a phased manner and will be getting them back on compelling grounds.
