Amid rising tensions between India and China, a Chinese soldier breached the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and entered the Indian territory after which he was nabbed by the Indian soldiers. The Indian Army has captured this Chinese soldier around the Demchok area of Ladakh on Monday.
The Indian Army has identified the Chinese soldier as Corporal Wang Ya Long.
The Indian Army provided the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Soldier with necessary medical attention, warm clothes, food, and oxygen to protect the soldier from rough climatic conditions and its effects including oxygen deprivation due to high altitude.
According to a statement issued by the Indian Army, the Chinese Army has sought information regarding the whereabouts of their missing soldier from India. The statement also added that the soldier will be returned back into the Chinese territory safely after mandatory formalities, as per the established protocols.
A major concern has been raised by this act of breaching LAC by the Chinese military and the Indian Army is taking the matter very seriously. The Chinese soldier was captured around 300 kilometers south of the Pangong Lake. Considering the current situation between the two countries, events like these cause major flutters.
Editor-in-chief of China’s Global Times, Hu Xijin, defend the matter by quoting the soldier being lost and no deliberate breach was made by him. He further added that the Indian Army has a positive attitude towards this event and he’s confident that the Chinese soldier will be returned without causing any new tension along LAC.
Since May, the tension between India and China is on the rise as several intrusions are constantly being made by the Chinese soldiers into the Indian territory. As a result, a major skirmish occurred along the LAC on June 15 which caused fatalities on both sides.
Several high-level meetings have been made at military and diplomatic levels but a significant decrease in tension is ye to be seen and permanent resolution of the LAC matter is also awaited
