On Wednesday, the Income Tax Department raided properties linked with Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu and production house Phantom Films. Let us inform you that Phantom Films was co-founded by film director Anurag Kashyap. The department also raided some other premises including a talent-hunting firm. The officials informed that the raids were conducted at around 20 locations in Mumbai and Pune in connection with the investigation of income tax evasion.
The department’s officers said that all the business-related premises are being searched which are associated with Taapsee Pannu and other promoters of Phantom Films, including Vikas Bahl. The properties of Reliance Entertainment CEO Shibhashish Sarkar were also inspected. Notably, Reliance Entertainment is the parent company of Phantom Films.
According to sources, the Income Tax Department had alleged large-scale income tax evasion cases against these notables. Numerous Mumbai-based assets of people linked with these celebrities are also being raided and scanned by the IT department. As per media reports, several big names are expected to emerge out in this investigation. However, more details are yet to transpire in this matter.
Interestingly, Anurag Kashyap and Taapsee Pannu have previously worked together in several Bollywood projects and both of them are recognized for criticizing the government often on social media. The duo has made some successful films like ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ and ‘Manmarziyaan’ together. The celebrities have teamed up yet again for the sci-fi film ‘Dobaara (2:12)’. The movie is slated to release in the second half of 2021.
Taapsee Pannu was last seen in Anubhav Sinha’s film Thappad in 2020. Taapsee’s upcoming film ‘Rashmi Rocket’ is set to hit the theatres soon. Along with this, she is also working on several other films including ‘Haseen Dilruba’ and ‘Loop Lapeta’.
