Mumbai Local Train Updates: Central Railway set to restart eight services

The Central Railway is set to recommence eight special suburban train services. The recommencement will take effect from November 20. Four trains will function between Kharkopar and Belapur, whereas, other four services will facilitate between Kharkopar and Nerul.

Due to the immediate lockdown imposed, all local train services were abruptly halted; after which, the Central Railway restored some train services on a partial basis for emergency, essential service workers, police staff and government employees from 15th of June.

Although, the Central Railway did not resumed any train services on the fourth corridor : Belapur/Nerul-Kharkopar line.

Following is the schedule of restored train services on the Belapur/Nerul-Kharkopar line:


Presently, The Central Railway facilitates 1572 train services, everyday, on all lines. After the addition of these eight local train services, the total number of functional train services will be 1580, from the 20th of November.

The Central Railway requested the citizens to avoid rushing and use the services only when required, except for essential service workers as identified by the Government of Maharashtra as well as approved by the Ministry of Railways.

The body also advised the people to comply all protocols and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) regarding COVID-19 while using the services.

It is also announced that the Central Railway’s Mumbai Branch will function four traffic and power blocks to start the open-web girder of 76.67 metre length. The girder will function across railway tracks of Kalyan’s Patripool overbridge. Details of two blocks have been revealed by the authority and information regarding the other two blocks are scheduled to reveal on 28th and 29th of November, 2020.
