Online Correction of PAN

As per the Income Tax Department of India, an individual can correct, change and update his PAN card details both online as well as offline. For an offline change of the PAN database, one can visit PAN facilitation centers spread nationwide, where the officers extend help in the process. Also, an individual can change or update his PAN details online via National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) and UTI Infrastructure Technology And Services Limited (UTIITSL) websites. The inclusion of online method for changing or updating the PAN database by an individual is a great respite for office goers and day workers.

How to change your PAN details online?

  • Go to https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/endUserRegisterContact.html
  • In “Application type” dropdown, select “Changes or Correction in existing PAN data/Reprint of PAN Card (No changes in Existing PAN Data)”
  • In “Category type” dropdown, select “individual” if you are changing your own PAN details.
  • Further, fill in the details asked such as name, date of birth, email id and mobile number. Click submit after correctly filling the Captcha.
  • You will receive a token number on your email id. The email will have an action button, click it to continue the process.
  • Now, the platform will ask you to submit documents of proof such as date of birth, address proof, etc. There are three methods to submit the documents, you can choose any of the three methods as explained below.
  • 1st method (Paperless method): Submit the documents digitally by e-KYC and e-sign.
  • 2nd method: Scan and upload your documents on https://www.egov-nsdl.co.in/pan_card_issues.html  or C-DAC through e-sign. 
  • e-sign is chargeable at the rate of Rs. 5.90/-  applicable to both the above methods.
  • 3rd method: Physical submission of documents.
  • On successful submission of the above documents, you will be directed to the page where you can fill your PAN and Aadhar details. Scroll down to the correction part. 
  • On the correction page, there will be three categories: 1) Photo mismatch, 2) Signature mismatch and 3) Details of parents. Select the category of correction which you want. Click next, then you will be redirected to the “Address and contact page”.
  • If you have submitted your Aadhar details and your PAN is linked with Aadhar then the residential address column will be pre-filled in accordance with your Aadhar details. Your corrected PAN will go to this address. 
  • If you want to change the address, then click the box below the pre-filled address, and enter the new address. You will require to submit address proof for your new address. Click next after this step.
  • The next step requires you to submit proof of address, date of birth and your identity. In case the details are the same as your Aadhar card, then submit a copy of your Aadhar card, else submit these documents separately.
  • Further, also submit a copy of your PAN card or PAN allotment letter. 
  • Finally, you will have to e-sign a declaration mentioning the number of documents enclosed as proof. Click submit.
  • On the successful upload of the proof documents, you can preview your application. If you find it okay, then click submit.
  • The final step is to pay the application processing fee of Rs. 110/- for addresses within India and Rs. 1020 for abroad addresses. 
  • On successful processing of your application, a 15-digit acknowledgment number shall be given to you.
  • This acknowledgment number is used to track the status of your application. 
  • You can track the status of your application after 7 days of submission. The status of your application can be checked on www.pancard.org.in or on www.etdsdsc.com
