Paytm, the digital payment platform confirmed that one of its employees tested positive for COVID-19. The company confirmed the news via a statement on 4th March 2020. The said employee is posted in the Gurgaon office of Paytm and had gone on a vacation to Italy. It is noteworthy that Italy is the worst-hit country by COVID-19 outside China. The employee is said to be receiving treatment and is expected to recover quickly.
Paytm has shut down its Gurgaon office and has asked employees to work from home. The office is being quarantined and sanitized. All the teammates of the infected employee have been advised to undertake health and diagnostic tests on an immediate basis. However, the company officials confirmed that operations and the regular business of the company will not be affected.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 has started its menace all across the country. So FAR, 28 people have been confirmed to be infected by the deadly virus. Infected people consist of a 45-year-old man from Delhi, Six of his relatives in Agra, a 26 years old man from Telangana and 17 people in Rajasthan. 17 infected people from Jaipur include 16 Italian tourists and one Indian driver. The Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan has advised people to avoid any large public gathering.
Three students from Kerala, who were studying in Wuhan and were tested positive for COVID-19 infection have fully recovered. 161 tourists in Maharashtra were admitted to isolation wards and were tested for the infection, luckily they all tested negative. So far only 9 patients have been quarantined in Maharashtra.
