Maharashtra extend state-wide lockdown till July 31st

In another string of unsurprising news, the state of Maharashtra has extended the lockdown duration to July 31st. This is due to the fact that the numbers of cases have exponentially risen and there seems to be no respite on that end.  Maharashtra is single-handedly the worst affected state in India and the tally of infected cases has reached almost 1.6 lakh. Cyclone Nisarga makes landfall as Mumbai receives early showers

Cyclone Nisarge is on its way to Mumbai and has made landfall between Murud and Revdanda in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. Authorities have declared red alerts in these areas and are evacuating thousands of people. These evacuations are mainly happening in coastal areas of the state and in Gujarat, as reported by officials.  The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for seven coastal districts of Maharashtra.
